Fr Eduardo Quintero Mejia, CS was born on July 19, 1972 in Miraflores, Boyacá, Colombia. He is a member of the Missionaries of St Charles, Scalabrinians. He began his Religious Formation in Bogota, Colombia. It was January 1992 when he enrolled at St Buenaventura University to study Philosophy. After three years of Philosophical training, he went to Mexico for an experience at Tijuana, BC, in direct contact with migration reality and its main characters, our migrant brothers and sisters. He then did his canonical year of Novitiate, in Purépero, Mich.
On December 8, 1995 he did his First Religious Profession of poverty, chastity and obedience. He was assigned to study Theology in Chicago, IL. Four years later, he did his Perpetual Profession on Oct 1999 and was ordained a Deacon. During his pastoral experience as a Deacon, Eduardo graduated and six months later, he was ordained a Priest on June 24, 2000.
Fr Eduardo’s first missionary assignment was Guatemala City, dealing with migrants and refugees. He spent five years of ministry in Guatemala. He was then transferred to Our Lady of Sorrows in Vancouver, as an Associate Pastor, for three years. Superiors decided to send him to the formation field in Mexico City. On January 2012 he went back to Sorrows for a second term.
He now begins this new responsibility at St Ann’s Parish in Abbotsford, BC. Faithful to our charism and to serve the local Church we take on this new position to continue reaching out the Seasonal Farm Workers. We thus give life and meaning to Bishop Scalabrini’s legacy.
