The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest at the celebration of Mass. Duties include: carrying the processional cross and candles, holding the book for the celebrant when he is not at the altar, assisting with the preparation of the gifts, holding the communion pattens. We encourage anyone in Grade 4 or older, who has received First Confession and Holy Communion, and who wishes to participate more actively in the liturgy to join us! St. Ann’s is a veritable well of untapped potential at St. Ann’s when it comes to musical ability and God-given talent – won’t you share your special gifts with the parish? We are always looking for singers, musicians, especially those willing to learn to play the organ. There are many opportunities throughout the year for our choirs and musicians to take part in the Liturgy and give beautiful praise to God in song.
Liturgy of the Word for Children
A liturgical celebration for children to listen to the Scripture reading of the day at their level of comprehension. Trained volunteers guide the children in prayer with encouragement to develop a relationship with God, leading to a full and active participation in the Mass.
The main role of the ushers is to offer a friendly welcome to those coming to worship. Assist in finding seats, collecting the offerings, observe at communion, assist in emergencies, distribute bulletins, and help clean up the church after Mass.
